Below is a excerpt from the book "Who Am I? Our Future Crisis" by Bridgette Murphy
In any situation before this event occurred, she would run to her parents to be rescued. Not only was it easy to ask them for help, it was socially acceptable. This time was different. After working for three years and supporting herself, her parents grew accustomed to not having to support her. It was no longer acceptable to run back and ask for a bailout. She had to transition through this new life phase on her own. She really had no other choices. Her parents were in the middle of a huge divorce and bankruptcy case. They could not help her.
Everything around her was falling apart and for the first time in her life, she fought depression on every end. She cried all night, felt empty inside, and was unsure of what to do. Her friends would cheer her up temporarily but she realized as she returned to her apartment that her new life was real and her problems were there to stay. It hit her like a pie in the face. She had to find a way to rise above this situation and live.

Pursue Your Happiness
I recently had the opportunity to see the highly acclaimed movie "Pursuit of Happyness" starring Will Smith on TNT. The emotions I felt watching that movie were stirred by the core of human strength and divine faith. Many of us find ourselves at some point or another fighting for our dreams, ambitions or goals. This month I want you to be motivated and just like Will Smith said in the movie when speaking to his son, "If you have a dream, don’t let anybody tell you, you can’t accomplish that dream. You get up and do it! That’s it". Find out what you want and do it! It’s not as complicated as we make it. Now, will it require hard work? Yes, but you can make it happen. You have it in you to exceed your own expectations. Unless you stretch yourself outside your comfort zone, you will never reach your true potential. There is something that you would like to do right now, but you continue to tell yourself that you are not ready or you can never do that. I am here to tell you YES YOU CAN! As Jack Canfield and many others say, feel the fear and do it anyway!

Dance, Work, Live, Love!
In Stephen Convey’s book, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People," he asked a very important question that I would like to ask to you. He said, "if you knew that your life would end three years from today’s date, July 1, 2012, what would you want your family and friends to say about you at your funeral?"
This question caused me to go into deep thought. How often do we think about our funeral? Think about how you live each day in anticipation for tomorrow instead of enjoying those small simple joys of life like laughter, fellowship, love and a good meal. There is a famous quote that states:
"Dance like no one's watching. Work like you never need money. Live like there's heaven on earth. Love like you'll never get hurt." –author unknown
This month I want you to take the time out to do just as the quote is stated above. I want you find 30 favorite songs that you love and each day, I want you to listen to at least one of those songs everyday.
When you work, I want you to put your best foot forward, giving your best in everything you do. Live a life of peace and rest, embracing change, transition, and exciting life experiences. I want you to love the people close to you with your whole heart, forgetting about past hurts and experiences.
Furthermore, give every person a clean slate, regardless of what they have done or they are currently doing. When your time on this earth is up, they will know how you genuinely loved, passionately worked, and freely embraced the joys that life brings.
I advise you to go back to the basics and identify your core values and goals.
Remember, tomorrow is not promised and all that is guaranteed is right now. Let go, and be free to live, love and laugh.

Imagine This!
Imagine a world where there is no such thing as a normal pathway. Where people of all different ages and ethnicities decided to look within and found what makes them uniquely made them from everyone else. Imagine a world where people acknowledged their harmonious passion. What is harmonious passion? Harmonious passion is a passion that you have that harmoniously fits in with your life. Unlike, obsessive passion which usually has negative impacts because of the strong desire to pursue it, harmonious passion creates a life of purpose and fulfillment.
Do you have harmonious passion or obsessive passion?
Here is a story that you may or may not identify with to determine if you have harmonious or obsessive passion. A young man that loves to play the keyboard has a huge speaking engagement at his college. One of band friends lets him know that a jazz festival is in town and the band has a spot in the show. His friends persuade him to go. He goes because of his passion for playing the keyboard. The problem with this is that he did not plan for his speaking engagement in the morning, and therefore does not enjoy himself fully at the jazz festival. He then comes home and realizes that he made a huge mistake. The passion for his guitar did not flow with the rest of his life and the obsessive passion overtook his logical mindset to prepare for his speech.
A person with harmonious passion would have kindly declined because they understood that the speaking engagement was tomorrow and it was important. Even though the love to play the keyboard was strong , they would recognized what was priority this passion must flow with the rhythm of life.
Ask yourself today: Do I have harmonious or obsessive passion?
Monthly Challenge: Find your Harmonious passion.

INSPIRATION FROM A VISIONARY: RECESSION….WHERE?
Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary states that a realist is concerned with fact or reality and the rejection of the impractical and visionary. I tend to focus on the impractical because I am a visionary . I do this because I believe my reality is determined by what I believe.
Recently, my roommate asked me how I was doing. I said “to be honest, I am doing great!” “I do not feel our country is in a recession and I do not feel like the economy is sinking.” I put on my visionary glasses and my eyes saw beyond what was happening with the economy. I was able to see this because I believe the economy does not determine who I am or want I can accomplish.
Till this very day my thoughts have not changed. Why? I am able to see beyond what is happening around me and I have made the choice to do everything in my power to become the person I desire to be.
As the season of summer vastly approaches, I challenge you to put your visionary glasses on and see the person that you want to become. This person could be a doctor, pastor, business owner, or professor. Then I want you to figure out the image you need to portray. Use what you have in your closet so you will not have to spend any money. For one whole day I want you to become that person.
After the day has ended, I want you to write down how it felt to be that person. Email me at murph208@passionandpurposellc.com for your next steps.

It's a New Season
Akwaaba! {“welcome” in the Ghanaian language of Twi (pronounced “tree”)}
I have embarked upon a new season of my life that has you at the essence and core of its function. I recently started Passion and Purpose, LLC. This company is designed to see people reach their true potential and to find that uniqueness to change and impact the world around us. The mission of this company is to inspire people to reach their true potential and uncover their God given uniqueness through the power of motivational speaking and mentorship. I enjoy motivating people and watching them take charge of their lives, removing all mental barriers and living a life of true passion and purpose.
I am doing this because I have witnessed on numerous occasion the awesome transformation and impact one can have when they are confident in that which they possess. God has given each of you a “fingerprint”, a talent, and/or a gift that can be used and there is no one that can do what you can do best. Think about it. There are over 6 billion people on this planet and each person has a unique purpose to fulfill. How often do we ignore that which we are passionate about to seek what seems to be a normal, ordinary path? You can be original, nonconforming, and open to the creative ability that God has given you. He did not make us all the same, nor did he give us all the same abilities. Why do we feel that we must follow the same path? Is it familiarity, comfort, tradition? Take the limits off of your life and release yourself to come into your potential.
I recently had the opportunity to see the Broadway play “The Lion King”. The character that touched me the most was Raifiki, which means “friend” in Swahili. This character touched me because of the piercing ability of song and musical singing talent that she possessed.
While she was singing I felt this immense inspiration come over me. I turned to my mother and said “She tapped into her passion and purpose”. While singing she motivated me and inspired me because no one else could sing or hold a note the way she did. She was simply marvelous and it is all because she found that gift, that ability that God gave her and capitalized off of it. You have that same ability with your gift. Once you tap into your uniqueness, your niche’, the world around you will never be the same.
Love you all, and remember that you have it in you. See it’s right there! Right there! Now obtain it!
